Small units in combat must have organic, lethal and long-range capabilities to catch the enemy by surprise from the air. Ground and Special Forces need to be independent on that battlefield, and must be lethal and surprising without exposing themselves to the enemy or relying heavily on indirect fire support.
Roc-X
The United States ROC-X is a hand-launched VTOL (Vertical Take-Off & Landing) precision strike missile with hovering capabilities. The ability to hover is used for observation above the target’s area in complex, multi-dimensional environments, in order to acquire a target for immediate attack (the soldier is in-the-loop). If the soldier decides NOT to engage a target or doesn’t find one, the operator can simply return the Point Blank back “Home” to recover by hand, and deploy the VTOL missile at a more opportune moment.
ROC-X
The ROC-X missile weighs about 22 pounds and is about 36 inches long. It can fly at altitudes around 1,500 feet, at a maximum speed of 178 mph and can hover or loiter in the air while the target’s nature and exact position is confirmed prior to attack. the ROC-X loitering missile can carry electro-optical systems to validate and collect surveillance information in real time, and is equipped with an advanced warhead to neutralize the target.
ROC-X
The ability for a single operator with ROC-X’s hand-Launch ability, enables deployment in any scenario on land and sea, against both moving and stationary targets, which can be personnel, light unarmored vehicles, or posts, or small crewed or uncrewed surface vessels. Its light weight, small dimensions and simple deployment, enables a four person team to carry four bags with six ROC-X missiles, and be ready to operate them within 2-4 minutes in any contested environment.
